This may not be news for many people, but Americans choosing to spend their time and money at casinos is on the rise. Two independent surveys were conducted by Harrah's Entertainment, Inc, the survey indicates that more than 25 percent of American 21 and over have gone to a casino within the year. It does not stop there, of those gamblers surveyed the average visits of a casino a year is 6.1. The information was collected for Harrah’s Entertainment’s 2006 edition of the Profile of the American Casino Gambler.

"Most striking of all is the finding that, for the first time, a majority of U.S. adults now favor licensed casinos in their own states," wrote Gary Loveman, Harrah's Entertainment, Inc. president and CEO.

The survey is suggesting that playing live casino games is not just a trend, the numbers are actually growing. Many people in the industry claim that online gambling is converting many people into both casual and serious gamblers.

"As we examined the attitudes of gamblers, we discovered that they're often asked by friends and neighbors for advice on food, travel, new technology, even home decorating and automotive choices," Loveman said. "Just as gamblers like to try new activities, they also tend to be the first to buy new products and to tell their families and friends about the experience. And no doubt, they have shared the news about the great times they have enjoyed in casinos."

So, what’s the game-of-choice for most casino patrons? You’re right if you said slots, 71 percent of casual casino players only hit the slot and video poker machines at a casino. Blackjack is still America’s favorite casino card game followed by roulette, craps, and live poker.
